Blog 4: My Future Job
Hello everyone!
This is a complicated topic because I’m studying music, but I
would really like to work in different things but all related to music.
The main one, is like the ideal of most musicians, to work
as a performing musician, in a band or in my own project. It is very difficult to
even survive as a performing musician so the other option is being a teacher.
There are many ways to be a music teacher, first is giving
private instruments lessons or be a teacher in a school or in a university. The
payment as a teacher depends on how many students I have (as a private teacher).
As a school/university teacher the payment is secure and can be good.
I’m studying Music Theory, but after I finish the bachelor’s,
I can get a Teacher’s degree specialized in Music theory if I study for 2 years.
When I got into university I discovered another area of
music, that is music investigation or Musicology.
Musicology is really interesting and the research areas are
very diverse. Also combines the knowledge from other areas such as anthropology,
sociology, ethnology (specially Ethno-Musicology). I’m not really sure how the
payment is here (I never asked my teachers hehe) but this kind a job unlike the
previous ones mentioned can be indoors and outdoors.
"Béla Bartók using a phonograph to record folk songs sung by peasants in what is now Slovakia"
I’m not really sure what I’m going to do with my life.
Have a great time!
